According to the authorities, three Dutch troops were shot and hurt early on Saturday in downtown Indianapolis following what the neighborhood's police believe to have been a disturbance outside the hotel where they were staying.

The incident took place in Indianapolis' entertainment district at around 3:30 a.m. EDT. According to Indianapolis police, three guys were located with gunshot wounds and taken to local hospitals.

The two other soldiers were conscious, according to the Dutch defense ministry, while one soldier was in critical condition. In contrast, the Indianapolis police said that one soldier was stable and two others were in severe condition.

The three soldiers, according to the ministry, were from the Commando Corps and were in Indiana for training when they were shot outside the hotel where they were staying.

According to Indianapolis police, the shooting was the result of some sort of altercation between the three victims and another person or people.

While Indianapolis police continued their investigation into the shooting, the ministry said that the relatives of the victims had been notified.

There have been no arrests made

The Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, a 1,000-acre (405-hectare) property located about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southeast of Indianapolis, is where the soldiers were reportedly receiving training, according to the Indiana National Guard.

The Department of Defense "as well as other allies" receive training at the facility, according to a statement from the Guard.
